“One of the most humbling lessons in life is learning and excepting you don’t know everything.” I wanna tell you though; the feeling you get behind this revelation can be devastating to the ego. However, on the otherhand, God is not thrilled with people’s ego’s anyway. Actually He hates pride too, which is a precursor to ego!
I can remember many times during my life when in my own head, I just knew I was right about something, but it turned out I was wrong, dead wrong! The worse part, “you couldn’t tell me nothing! ” In my mind I believed I was right, and before long my heart would follow suit, resulting in an avalanche of passion about something that never was nor would be. That’s not a good place to be, and, “the wrongs God hates most are those that hurt other people.”
“I’ve also learned eternity is a long time to be wrong.” Who among us doesn’t know at least one ‘know-it-all’person, like I used to be, before I gave my life to Christ, my Lord and Savior? And, if you know one or some, you also know, you avoid their company whenever possible.
The bible teaches us valuable lessons about how to behave, think, feel, receive and be. In essence, the bible points out over and over again, “if you humble yourself, believe, receive, pay attention and listen, you can even learn something from a child.” But, humility is key here. Lack of humility is simply pride and ego on steroids. Combined they prevent you from admitting when you’re wrong.
Some people have so much pride they would rather die and go to hell, before admitting they were wrong about something. Sounds crazy right? Or, does it sound familiar?
Another teaching moment🎓
3 Be sure of this. In the last days hard times will come.
2 People will love themselves. They will love money. They will talk about themselves and be proud. They will say wrong things about people. They will not obey their parents. They will not be thankful. They will not keep anything holy.
3 They will have no love. They will not agree with anybody. They will tell lies about people. They will have no self-control. They will beat people. They will not love anything that is good.
4 They cannot be trusted. They will act quickly, without thinking. They are proud of themselves. They love to have fun more than they love God.
5 They act as if they worshipped God, yet they do not let God’s power work in their lives. Keep away from people like that. 2 Timothy 3 1:5
God wants us to surrender, back down and admit when we’re wrong, and apologize whenever possible. Then and only then will He show us our strengths, or what we’re really made of. Humility helps us stay in the center of our expertise, which keeps us in God’s lane, instead of out there making wrong turns. Wrong turns can cause accidents.
God already knows you’re not perfect, as well as exactly where you fall short; because He wove us together in our mother’s womb. He wants you to act like you know too!
Lord, spare me from myself, the big head and self-talk that promotes a know-it-all attitude. Please God show me when I’m wrong.
Thank You Lord for showing me, that no matter how long I live I’ll never know everything and I can be wrong sometimes!
